Mission & Goals

ICoRSA is an international consortium that connects Research Staff Associations and strengthens the collective voice of research staff and postdoctoral scholars in research policy. The mission is to improve research careers by supporting researchers, sharing best practice across borders, and helping shape responsible, inclusive research and innovation. ICoRSA collaborates with Eurodoc, MCAA, YAE, ISE and others, to amplify the collective voice of researchers. It is affiliated with the International Science Council (ISC), the Initiative Science Europe (ISE), and holds consultative status with UNESCO. ICoRSA participates in Horizon Europe collaborative projects, including SECURE2 (101216965); PHAROS (101157936) SECURE (101094902); H2HEAT (101118318).

EU Legislative Interests

In line with its mission to improve researchers’ working conditions and strengthen the research environment, ICoRSA actively engages with key EU policies on research, innovation, and education. This includes close involvement with European Research Area (ERA) initiatives, such as the ERA Policy Agenda, the Council Conclusions of December 2020 on the New European Research Area, and the Council Recommendation of 18 December 2023 on a European framework to attract, develop, and retain research, innovation, and entrepreneurial talent in Europe. ICoRSA is a partner in the SECURE2 project, through which it contributes directly to the development and implementation of the European Framework for Research Careers. Beyond ERA-related policies, ICoRSA also follows and engages with the EU Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation, EU competition policy, and the European Education Area, including initiatives such as the European Universities Initiative. In addition, ICoRSA closely monitors and contributes to gender equality policies relevant to research and innovation, including the European Commission’s Union of Equality: Gender Equality Strategy 2020–2025 and the Council Conclusions on advancing gender equality in the European Research Area.
