Mission & Goals
The International Association for Democracy (IAD) is a charity that works to defend and advance democracy around the globe. We link people with their governments and lobby governments to promote, strengthen and safeguard democratic institutions, processes, norms and values at home and abroad. We also work towards raising public awareness about the current state of democracy around the world and what should be done to better defend and promote democracy.
EU Legislative Interests
We target any proposals or policies that are linked to the defence and promotion of democracy. In any circumstance, we call for more to be done to defend and promote democracy. Our current sole focus is on Ukraine. We seek to encourage the EU to provide specific support to foster democracy in Ukraine (including legal and policy advice and grants to underfunded media outlets). In addition, we call on the EU to strengthen sanctions against Russia (and Belarus for its role) and to close any loopholes, to convey a clear message that the unlawful invasion will not be tolerated and to make the invasion too costly for Putin.
Communication Activities
We are active on social media and publish opinion pieces to raise awareness about topics relating to democracy.
