Mission & Goals

International Alliance of Women / Alliance Internationale des Femmes (IAW/AIF) is a global feminist non-governmental organisation dedicated to advancing women’s human rights, gender equality, and social justice. Through its Action Programme 2025–2028, IAW defines eight strategic goals that guide its advocacy, partnerships, and policy engagement at international and regional levels. These goals address the full enjoyment of human rights by all women and girls; peace and security; the elimination of violence against women and girls; democratic participation and equal representation; gender-responsive climate action; access to gender-sensitive healthcare and sexual and reproductive rights; women’s economic equality; and digital equality and safety. IAW’s remit is to promote dignity, equality, and opportunity for all women and girls, leaving no one behind. https://womenalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/IAW-ACTION-PROGRAMME-E-2025-2028-Strategic-Goals-FINAL.pdf

EU Legislative Interests

IAW/AIF focuses on EU legislative proposals and policies relevant to women’s rights and gender equality, mostly in alignment with the European Women’s Lobby. Key areas include the Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence, the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020–2025, the Directive on pay transparency, the Digital Services Act, and the EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy. Positive outcomes in these areas can also inform IAW’s work on women’s rights and gender equality outside Europe.

Communication Activities

As a new registrant, IAW has not yet carried out direct communication activities targeting EU policies. It disseminates information on relevant EU legislative proposals and initiatives through its international network and in alignment with the European Women’s Lobby. Future activities will include publications, campaigns, and participation in consultations in line with IAW’s strategic goals.
