Mission & Goals

The Interledger Foundation is a nonprofit grantmaking organization dedicated to fostering an open and inclusive digital financial ecosystem. We support initiatives that advance financial access, financial health, and interoperability through the adoption of the Interledger Protocol (ILP), an open technology enabling seamless transactions across diverse financial networks. With grantees in over 40 countries, including throughout Europe, we fund projects that drive innovation, promote digital financial inclusion, and empower communities to participate in the digital economy. Beyond grant-making, we engage in capacity-building, knowledge exchange, and global discussions and thought leadership on digital financial inclusion. Our mission is to create a more accessible and interoperable financial system, reducing barriers to economic participation and ensuring that individuals and businesses, regardless of location or financial status, can benefit from digital financial services.
