Mission & Goals
interface - formerly known as Stiftung Neue Verantwortung (SNV) e.V. - is an independent expert organisation specialising in information technology and public policy. interface aims to ensure that political decision-makers have the expertise and ideas necessary to create policies and make decisions that put the public interest first. interface provides analysis and ideas to decision-makers and the public across Europe on issues such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, platform oversight, global chip dynamics and government surveillance.
EU Legislative Interests
Our think tank works on 5 tech fields: Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductors, Plaftorm Governance and Digital Data Rights & Surveillance Oversight. In this respect, our think tank also has an interest in telecommunications regulation, e-skills, data protection, the prevention of fake news, competition law, semi-conductor supply chains, AI & AI governance, the data economy, etc. Over the past year, our team has either monitored or commented on some EU policies/regulations, such as: - Directive 2022/2555, also known as NIS2 - Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) - Cybersecurity Act (CSA) - EU Cyber Solidarity Act - Council conclusions on ENISA - Proposal to prevent and combat child sexual abuse online - Digital Services Act - Digital Fairness Act - AI Continent Action Plan - EU Artificial Intelligence Act - European Chips Act Revision - European Economic Security Strategy - European Green Deal - Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive - Competitiveness compass - fourth Simplification Omnibus package
Communication Activities
As previously mentioned, we are a think tank that offers research on technology policy. We carry out research on tech issues and communicate our findings to decisiomakers and the wider public through: -The publications of studies, reports and data briefs - The setting up of online workshops and events - The sending of email campaigns to keep our readers updated about our research - The occasional attendance to events discussing tech policy in Brussels, Berlin and other parts of Europe.
