Mission & Goals
Insurance Ireland is the representative organisation for the insurance sector in Ireland Ireland is a thriving global hub for insurance, reinsurance and insurtech. Our members represent around 95% of the companies operating in the Irish market, making Insurance Ireland a strong leadership voice for the sector. The role of Insurance Ireland is to advocate on behalf of our members with policymakers and regulators in Ireland, Europe and Internationally; to promote the value that our members create for individuals, the economy and society; and to help customers understand insurance products and services so that they can make informed choices. Insurance Ireland advocates for 131 member firms serving 25m customers in Ireland and globally across 110 countries, delivering peace of mind to individuals, households and businesses, and providing a firm foundation to the economic life of the country.
EU Legislative Interests
Insurance Ireland follows the regulatory and political discussion at EU level on all relevant files for its members. The most important initiatives to which Insurance Ireland seeks to contribute are: o Financial services regulation, Solvency II, the Capital Markets Union and Anti-Money-Laundering; o Consumer Protection and retail financial services; o Digital Finance, Cybersecurity, the use of new technologies and Data Protection; o Environmental and social sustainability including social protection, old-age provisions, pensions, sustainable finance and sustainable insurance; o Liability, protection and accident insurance relevant files, e.g. Motor Insurance, product liability; o Taxation.
Communication Activities
Insurance Ireland contributes to the European discussion on behalf of its members with its expertise and experience. Insurance Ireland actively engages by: o Contributions to relevant consultations; o Position papers on relevant EU regulatory and political initiatives; o PR and communication activities; o Organisation of discussion forums on relevant EU regulatory and policy initiatives in Dublin and Brussels; o Participation in the joined efforts of the Irish Financial Services industry as described in the IFS 2025 Action Plan.
