Mission & Goals
To take and maintain a leading role in European restructuring and insolvency issues, facilitate the exchange of information and ideas amongst its Members and discuss restructuring and insolvency issues with official European and other international bodies who are affected by those procedures. It will encourage greater international co-operation and communication within Europe and also with the rest of the world. Its goals and strategies are to: lead the study, evaluation and development of restructuring and insolvency law, techniques and practice in Europe; be acknowledged by European and international bodies as the first port of call for all matters regarding restructuring and insolvency in Europe; disseminate technical and topical information on restructuring and insolvency; facilitate business development and the exchange of professional experience among its members and other international bodies; further the technical support and training of members and others. Events - INSOL Europe organises international meetings on topics related to national and international insolvencies through its physical Annual Congress (AC), Annual Eastern European Countries Committee Conference (EECC) and Annual Academic Forum (AF) Conference taking place each year in a different European country. *In 2022, events took place in Ireland (Dublin AC and AF Conference, March) and in Croatia (Dubrovnik AC and AF Conference, October). *In 2023, events took place in Lithuania (Vilnius EECC Conference, May) and in The Netherlands (Amsterdam AC and AF Conference, October). *In 2024, events took place in Poland (Krakow EECC Conference, June) and in Italy (Sorrento AC and AF Conference, October) *In 2025, events took place in Romania (Bucharest EECC Conference, May) and in Austria (2025 Vienna AC and AF Conference, October) *In 2026, events will take place in Cyprus (Limassol EECC Conference, June) and in Portugal (2026 Vilamoura AC and AF Conference, October) INSOL Europe also co-labels events hold by other organisations (ABI and R3 in 2023, 2024 & 2025 and Pravo-Justice in 2025). In the course of 2020 (April, May and November), some of their work has resulted in the publication of three Guidance Notes on Directive 2019/1023 on Restructuring and Insolvency with the aim of assisting EU Member States with putting the restructuring frameworks mandated by the Directive in place as soon as possible: https://www.insol-europe.org/publications/g EU - Having also recognised experience as a regular contributor to the debate relating to the harmonisation of insolvency laws in Europe, INSOL Europe has published on its website two reports for the European Commission (2014 - ‘Study on a new approach to business failure and insolvency – Comparative legal analysis of the Member States’ relevant provisions and practices’) and the European Parliament (2010- ‘Harmonisation of Insolvency Law at EU Level’) - INSOL Europe was also an invited non-governmental organisation at the European Commission Insolvency Conference held in Brussels on 12 July 2016, entitled 'Convergence of insolvency frameworks within the European Union - the way forward' (video available from our website). https://www.insol-europe.org/eu-study-group-publications Projects - Joint project between Lexis+ and European Insolvency Regulation Case Register - INSOL Europe/LexisPSL Research on implementation of the EU Directive 2019/1023 - Joint project between LexisPSL and INSOL Europe on the recognition of foreign decisions in different EU countries
