Mission & Goals

Our organisation is a non-profit, cross-disability initiative dedicated to advancing digital accessibility, inclusive communication and the equal participation of persons with disabilities in social, cultural and public life at national and European level. Our activities are structured around the D-ICA (Digital-Infocommunication Accessibility) Ecosystem, a modular and scalable framework developed by our organisation to support systemic accessibility and inclusion. The D-ICA Ecosystem integrates digital accessibility standards and tools, inclusive communication solutions and accessible experience design, enabling practical implementation across digital platforms, public services, cultural events and large-scale public initiatives. Through research, pilot projects, partnerships and policy-oriented advocacy, we contribute concrete and innovative solutions that support the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and EU accessibility legislation.

EU Legislative Interests

European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) – implementation and enforcement of accessibility requirements for digital products and services, including ICT, e-commerce, audiovisual media and public-facing digital platforms. UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) – EU-level implementation and policy alignment, with a focus on digital accessibility, independent living, access to information and participation in public life. EU Disability Strategy 2021–2030 – contribution to policy dialogue and implementation related to accessibility, inclusion, digital participation and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA) – accessibility aspects of digital platforms, user interfaces and online services affecting equal access and participation. Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) – inclusion of accessibility, non-discrimination and human-centric design principles in AI systems, particularly regarding assistive technologies and inclusive digital services. EU Digital Decade and Digital Europe Programme – promotion of inclusive digital transformation, accessible public services and digital skills for persons with disabilities. EU public procurement and standardisation policies related to accessibility – support for accessibility-by-design approaches in public services, events and digital infrastructures.

Communication Activities

Our communication activities related to EU accessibility and disability policies focus on professional information sharing, stakeholder dialogue and awareness-raising rather than advocacy campaigns. These activities include: • participation in EU-level conferences, stakeholder events, thematic forums and information sessions related to accessibility, digital inclusion and disability rights; • contribution to public consultations, feedback processes and expert discussions organised by EU institutions and agencies; • publication of professional position papers, policy briefs and explanatory materials aimed at supporting the understanding and implementation of EU accessibility legislation; • organisation and participation in workshops, roundtables and pilot demonstrations showcasing inclusive digital solutions and accessible experience design; • dissemination of information through professional networks, websites and digital channels to inform stakeholders about relevant EU policy developments, standards and good practices. All communication activities are conducted in a transparent, non-commercial manner and are aligned with the objectives of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the EU Disability Strategy 2021–2030 and EU digital accessibility legislation.
