Mission & Goals

INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, polymers, specialty chemicals, and oil products with 150 facilities, employing 24,000 people across 27 countries around the world. In addition to our core chemicals businesses, we have upstream operations that extract oil and gas, as well as an automotive business and various sports interests. Our products make a vital contribution to raising living standards and advancing UN Sustainable Development Goals. We seek to operate safely and responsibly and our founding principles are Grit, Rigour, and Humour.

EU Legislative Interests

The following is a non-exhaustive list of legislation and initiatives that INEOS monitors and seeks to inform: Clean Industrial Deal, Affordable Energy Action Plan, Chemicals Industry Action Plan, Industrial Accelerator Act, Circular Economy Act, Electrification Action Plan, Industrial Decarbonisation Bank, Clean Industrial State Aid Framework, ETS State Aid Guidelines, ETS Directive, CBAM Regulation, Energy Efficiency Directive, Renewable Energy Directive, Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Package, Industrial Emissions Directive, Waste Framework Directive, REACH Regulation, CLP Regulation, Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, Single-Use Plastics Directive, Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, Ecodesign and Sustainable Products Regulation, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, EU Taxonomy, Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, and Automotive Package.

Communication Activities

INEOS raises awareness of the competitiveness challenges facing the EU chemicals industry through open letters, press releases, and correspondence with the Commission. In 2025, INEOS launched the ‘eleventh-hour campaign’ to save the European chemicals industry with a report commissioned from Oxford Economics. INEOS participates in strategic dialogues, Antwerp industry summits, policy roundtables, and the Critical Chemicals Alliance and occasionally hosts MEPs at its industrial sites. INEOS provides input to Cefic and Plastics Europe to inform their advocacy.
