Mission & Goals
GeoEcoMar is the Romanian Research and Development National Institute for Marine Geology and Geo-ecology under the coordination of the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research. Its main scientific mission is to support knowledge on the geological evolution of the Danube River - Delta - Black Sea macro-system, impacts of humans and climate change. In charge with the creation of the geological - geophysical systematic study of the NW Black Sea shelf, present day evolution of the Danube River and its delta, as well as the coastal zone, offering support to ecological rehabilitation and restoration projects. GeoEcoMar has been actively involved in the DG RTD funded projects since FP4 in the Danube - delta - coast - Black Sea region. General coordination of H2020 project DOORS - 'Developing Optimal and Open Research Support' for the Black Sea'. Coordinator of the ESFRI Initiative DANUBIUS-RI. Coordinator of HE project BLUEMISSIONDBS2030.

Communication Activities
All H2020 DOORS project activities are dedicated to bring the scientific support needed to implement the specific European Sustainable Blue Growth concepts in the Black Sea basin. During the project lifetime, besides the strict research activities numerous outreach events tailor made for the different audiences were held, from Ocean Literacy, growing awareness, supporting (for the first time) citizen science in the Black Sea, up to the interaction with policy makers on topics related to the sustainable use of the Black Sea resources. A High level policy maker event - showcasing DOORS Horizon 2020 project results is planned on March 27, 2025.
