EU Legislative Interests
IDnow's strategic focus is on the eIDAS regulation, digital identity and the wallet. Therefore, IDnow takes an active part in shaping Europe's digital landscape. Our commitment is primarily centered around our engagement in open and common standard setting through participation in working groups of global and European standardization organizations. Currently, IDnow is sitting on the following working groups of ETSI: • ETSI TS 119 462 (EUDI Wallet interfaces) • ETSI TS 119 471 (QTSP policies for QEAAs) • ETSI TS 119 472 (QEAA profiles) • ETSI TS 119 461 (remote identity proofing) • editors of the new technical report ETSI TR 119 476 on selective disclosure Moreover, IDnow sits on the following working groups of CEN: • CEN TC/224 WG20 for the EUDI Wallet, and co-editor of the PID onboarding standard. • CEN TC/224 WG17 and contributes to CEN EN 419 241 on remote signing services, remote QCSDs and EUDI Wallet remote HSMs • CEN TC/224 WG18 for biometric identification. Another contributions: - European Commission - “Fighting online fraud - action plan” (Call for Evidence) - written contribution submitted 09/02/2026. We are furthermore interested in any ongoing or upcoming EU legislation that highlight the use of secure remote identity proofing. A current example would be the Digital Service Act, which buttresses the necessity to protect minors from certain social media platforms or adult content platforms in general and hence calls for trustworthy age verification solutions.
Communication Activities
- Public consultation / Call for Evidence: IDnow submitted written feedback to the European Commission on the “Fighting online fraud – action plan”, based on operational experience in identity verification and fraud prevention. The submission highlights (i) AI-enabled fraud trends (deepfakes, injection attacks, social engineering), (ii) gaps in cross-sector/cross-border fraud-signal sharing, and recommends an EU trusted framework for information sharing, threat-informed benchmarking for remote identity proofing/PAD, end-to-end disruption, and improved victim support.
