Mission & Goals
Nuestra misión es consolidar un ecosistema de empresas relevantes para el sector de la minería y sus servicios asociados a nivel nacional para acelerar la transición hacia una nueva industria innovadora y sostenible, con capacidad para garantizar el suministro de las materias primas que darán forma a las tecnologías del futuro. Para ello, el ISMC proporciona un catálogo integral de servicios para ayudar a las empresas del sector (con especial atención a las PYMEs) a incorporar nuevas tecnologías, crear empleo cualificado, obtener nuevos conocimientos y adquirir ventajas competitivas a través de la innovación y el crecimiento sostenible. Además, el ISMC promueve la modernización industrial y la digitalización en el sector a través del intercambio y la interacción con industrias emergentes de la fabricación avanzada, las TIC, la economía circular, el medioambiente y el uso eficiente de recursos.
EU Legislative Interests
Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA): Establishing a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials is central to ISMC’s mission. The cluster is aligned with the EU’s goal of increasing domestic extraction, processing, and recycling capacities. -European Green Deal and the Fit for 55 package: ISMC supports the decarbonisation of the mining and raw materials sector, in line with EU climate neutrality targets and sustainability policies. -EU Industrial Strategy: Relevant for strengthening the competitiveness and innovation of European industry, including mining and raw materials value chains. -REPowerEU Plan: ISMC follows this plan closely, especially regarding the demand for raw materials needed for renewable energy technologies and battery storage systems. -Battery Regulation: The sustainable sourcing and circularity of battery raw materials are key areas of engagement for ISMC and its members. -Circular Economy Action Plan: Promoting reuse, recycling, and eco-design is highly relevant for the mining and raw materials sector. -Horizon Europe: ISMC actively participates in and supports collaborative research and innovation projects in sustainable mining, resource efficiency, and digitalisation. -Pact for Skills and skills-related initiatives: Workforce development and training are essential for building the capacities needed in the evolving raw materials and mining ecosystem.
Communication Activities
-Organization and participation in conferences, workshops, and technical forums at national and EU level, focused on innovation, circular economy, and the Critical Raw Materials Act. -Awareness campaigns and stakeholder engagement events, often involving EU-funded projects (e.g. Horizon Europe), to promote best practices and policy alignment in sustainable mining. -Publication of technical reports, newsletters, and position papers addressing EU policies such as the Green Deal, REPowerEU, and the Battery Regulation. -Collaboration with regional and European clusters and institutions, supporting the communication of EU strategies on industrial sustainability and skills development. -Online dissemination through the ISMC website, social media, and project platforms, targeting industry, academia, and policymakers.
