Als integriertes Hüttenwerk hat sich HKM mit Sitz in Duisburg, auf die Produktion von Stahl und Vorprodukten für die verarbeitende Industrie spezialisiert. Die Sektoreinstufung gemäß dem „Global Industry Classification Standard GICS®“ entspricht Stahl 15104050, der NACE Code der Hauptaktivitäten ist „24.10 Erzeugung von Roheisen, Stahl und Ferrolegierungen“. HKM produziert über 1.000 verschiedene Stahlsorten.
