Mission & Goals
Hungarian Water Association (HWA) is a non-profit federation that has been providing an active community for water professionals, opinion leaders, decision-makers, water companies and individuals for more than twenty years. HWA means a professional source of knowledge, experience and activities for sustainable urban and basin related water solutions. Leadership. Professional commitment. Collaboration. Scholarship. Service. Added value. Knowledge sharing. Representing sectoral interest. Supporting the YWPs. These are the core values that guide the Hungarian Water Association and its members in fulfilling our mission of saving our waters. HWA’s main aim is to provide qualified but yet independent professional services and assistance to experts in the field of urban water management and to the domestic water sector.

Communication Activities
HWA as a member of the European Water Association is channeling communication about EU water regulation in both directions: -towards the EWA (as a national member and through individual members delegated by us to the European Policy Commitee and to the European Technical and Scientific Commitee) -towards the Hungarian water sector Latter includes: -our magazine "Hírcsatorna" (the upcomming issues focusing on the decentralised solutions) -our seminars/webinars about recent developments (like the amendment of the waste water directive 91/271/eec) -our conferences (in this year: "20years in the EU. Reckoning and preparation on the future") HWA also conducted a countrywide market research in 2020, financed by EU Life project about the assesment of the Hungarian municipal water and wastewater service. That is of great use in domestic policymaking and internationally a well respected effort.

Additional Information
The HWA budget is mainly based on membership fees of utility providers, water industry companies. Additionaly the event organisation activity of HWA is contributing to the budget-ballance (conference, seminar, webinar sponsorships, participation fees). HWA is also looking for application of open tender opportunities, dedicated to certain activities, like market research, preparation of studies, knowledge transfer or social communication.
