Mission & Goals
Since 2017, the Foundation “H.OPES - Humanae Opes” has been helping vulnerable communities affected by emergencies, disasters and underdevelopment. We aim to transform social and economic vulnerability into individual and collective growth opportunities through development cooperation projects promoting autonomy, resilience and sustainability. We support emergency response, recovery and long-term development by implementing projects that provide specialised personnel and financial assistance in cooperation with our local partners. We focus on three main areas: humanitarian aid to provide immediate relief, humanitarian demining to secure the conflict-affected area, and blue growth to support sustainable local community and environment development. We also support policymakers in making good choices to ensure positive change in their communities.
EU Legislative Interests
Sustainable development goals; Agriculture/fisheries/aquaculture; Sustainable fisheries partnership agreements (SFPA) with non-EU countries; WestMed strategy; Vocational training in developing countries; Institution building; Global mine action; IDPs, refugees and migration.
Communication Activities
H.OPES aims at interacting with MEPs and their staff, as well as with other EU institution's staff, to raise awareness and prepare the ground for parliamentary questions and recommendations on arguments related to its activities and areas of interest such as civilian protection post-conflict situations, implementation of development cooperation policies, climate change, sustainable development goals. H.OPES wants to support the EU initiative to transition the world to a low-carbon, climate-neutral, resource-efficient and biodiverse economy in full compliance with the UN 2030 Agenda and the 17 SDGs to reduce unsustainable tendencies that rely on the overexploitation of natural resources as well as the loss of biodiversity caused by unsustainable consumption and production models, especially in the fishing sector in the developing countries. Moreover, H.OPES aims to advocate, in coordination with other NGOs from the Horn of Africa and MENA regions, relevant arguments related to the EU development mechanisms in those regions.
