Mission & Goals
HOPE XXL is a youth organisation that believes in a new global narrative, one that sits between a utopia and a dystopia, which we define as the “Octopia.” This Octopia represents a world in which everyone can rate their lives an 8 on a scale from 1 to 10. Together with young people worldwide, during a conference at the University for Peace in Costa Rica in collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we established this goal and translated it into the Liemers List. The Liemers List is a concrete action programme consisting of 80 points for sustainable development, participation, and well-being. Through this programme, we encourage dialogue, international cooperation, and practical steps toward creating a world in which everyone can rate their life an 8 out of 10, achieved through a coalition of young and old. A key element of the Liemers List is the renewed vision on international cooperation which we call the People's Partnership.
EU Legislative Interests
HOPE XXL is focussed on legislation and policies that strengthen the participation of citizens and local/grassroots initiatives, additionally HOPE XXL focusses on legislation and politicies regarding international cooperation (Comission on International Partnerships) to promote our reviewed vision on international development aid. In doing so, we particularly follow EU legislation and policy frameworks related to sustainable development, civic engagement and international cooperation such as: 1. European Green Deal (with an emphasis on the social dimension and local implementation) 2. Package for a European Civil Society Area (to promote a favourable working environment for civil society initiatives) 3. Policy area on human development of the Comission on International Partnerships. Our motto is think global, act local: we contribute to the global policy debate, but focus on strengthening communities locally. This local character is our greatest strength and enables us to translate global policy goals into concrete actions.

Member Of
HOPE XXL is an independent ANBI foundation with no commercial interests. We have no formal memberships in any umbrella or industry organizations. However, we do collaborate with: - Maatschappelijke Diensttijd (MDT) – we receive designated funding from the MDT fund for youth projects. (Ministry of Education, Culture and Science). - Municipalities in the Netherlands – on a project basis, for example, for local (youth) activities. - Nationale Jeugdraad (NJR) – occasional collaboration on youth participation projects. - Apex Development Foundation (USA) – collaboration focused on access to United Nations conferences and international advocacy. We do not have any subsidiaries or entities sponsored by HOPE XXL.
