Mission & Goals

HCH is a private platform (born out of a public-private initiative) in which the HCH foundation, (local) government authorities, knowledge institutes and companies intensively and internationally collaborate and exchange knowledge with the aim of stimulating entrepreneurship in the field of circular economy. The activities of Holland Circular Hotspot are: • Offer insights in and access to the network of Dutch & EU circular pioneers; • Develop and exchange knowledge on international market opportunities for circular economy; • Create circular opportunities internationally by matching offer and demand; • Support companies and organizations that want to contribute to internationalization of circular economy; • Stimulate cooperation between the private sector, knowledge institutions, governments and other relevant parties; • Provide international visibility of Dutch and EU CE innovations/best practices; • Facilitate access to Dutch and international (financing) instruments and programmes.

Holland Circular Hotspot (HCH) has an extensive set of CE best practices from businesses in several market segments that it shares with the world through own website, workshops and trainings, presentations, missions, reports and publications in which Circular Economy is linked to topics like Climate, Cities, Resource Resilience or SDGs. See https://hollandcircularhotspot.nl/themes/ See https://hollandcircularhotspot.nl/publications/ HCH also shares tools, insights and F&F from knowledge institutes as well as hard-learned policy lessons from the Dutch government. See https://hollandcircularhotspot.nl/ce-package-for-embassies/ HCH has built up a huge network of Circular Economy "sister organisations" in Europe and beyond, for knowledge sharing, joint projects, capacity building and advocacy. Since 2016 we have had 17 editions on 5 continents with every year 4 to 5 new events scheduled HCH is active, often alongside Dutch representative Offices abroad and circular sister organisations", in incoming and outgoing missions, events and webinars for example COP, WCEF, World Expo and EU Stakeholder events of EU Circular Economy Missions and Circular Economy events

Organisation Members

Holland Circular Hotspot is a private foundation. The Foundation has a 3-person Supervisory board, a 15 person Programme Committee and a network of ~30 HCH Special Envoys. https://hollandcircularhotspot.nl/about-us/ HCH has public and private sponsors. HCH also acquires projects (on a not-for-profit basis), for example, from The Netherlands Enterprise Agency HCH does not have members with a membership structure. HCH works predominantly in the pre-competitive field and creates mutual circular business opportunities. HCH is active in 1 EU i3 projects and a Erasmus+ project.

Additional Information

2024 was a transition year for HCH. Financial Support from the NL government had stopped, international projects funding for Circular Economy was much lower. HCH built up an EU project portfolio.
