Mission & Goals
HERA - Health Education and Research Association is a civil society organization committed to advancing health, education, and social inclusion, with a strong focus on gender equality, human rights, and youth empowerment. HERA works to improve access to comprehensive, quality sexual and reproductive health services, particularly for young people, women, and marginalized communities, through integrated approaches that combine service delivery, education, research, and advocacy. The organization actively contributes to policy development and reform by promoting evidence-based solutions, strengthening institutional capacities, and fostering multi-stakeholder dialogue at local, national, and regional levels. HERA also plays a key role in combating misinformation, addressing social norms and inequalities, and supporting inclusive democratic processes. EU Legislative Interests
Main EU legislative proposals and policies that HERA is focused on are related to Gender Equality Strategy: Roadmap Principle 1: Freedom from gender-based violence - the right to security and dignity; Roadmap Principle 2: The highest standards of physical and mental health; Roadmap Principle 3: Equal pay, economic empowerment and financial independence; Gender Equality in EU External Action. The organization focuses on advocacy and lobbing for gender mainstreaming of the negotiations processes with enlargement countries.
Communication Activities
HERA is taking part in a EP event organized by EPF, Astra Network, L’Associació de Drets Sexuals i Reproductius & HERA: What Works Against Anti-Gender? Regional Resistance and Lessons for the EU; room SPINELLI 5G1,Tuesday, April 7, 2026, 10:00 - 12:00 Beside this, in the past years HERA has undertaken the following advocacy efforts: - Annual Written submission on country progress towards EU integration and Individual in person consultations and by EU Country Delegation (past 5 years) - Annual Written submission on country progress and virtual consultation with DG Near Representatives on Enlargement package (past 5 years) - EU Advocacy week in Brussels of feminist organizations from Balkan region with support of Kwiina till Kwinna (2021 - 2023) - advocacy meeting with Members of European Parliament, DG Near, DG Enest, with focus on gender equality policies. - Written feedback on European parliament country report on CSO (2023 and 2024) - Part of delegation from North Macedonia for study visit is designed interactive knowledge transfer event on EU policies for countering foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI), including disinformation, and on EU enlargement policies with focus on the situation in North Macedonia and the negotiations process. (working sessions with representatives of the European External Action Services, including the Western Balkans StratCom Task Force and Europe.2, and the Commission services (DG NEAR and CNECT)).
