Mission & Goals
HCFI, originally created in 1936, is a worldwide movement representing various national and international Christian Healthcare organisations in Europe and beyond. The European Headquarters is situated in the Netherlands. Its goal is to train and support healthcare workers in competent, compassionate care from a Christian worldview. We promote holistic healthcare and healthcare systems; therefore we partner with a variety of national and European Healthcare policy makers, including MEPs.
EU Legislative Interests
Human Rights: All articles of the Charter of Fundamental Rights that relate to healthcare issues, e.g. articles under the first title of "dignity", articles 1-5, article 10 and under the title solidarity (article 35 about healthcare), as well as Freedom of Speech and Religion. EU Health Policy Platform: EU4Health programma (2021-2027) and the One Health approach (Programme for the Union's action in the field of health for the period 2021-2027, Committee for the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety) Health-EU portal (eHealth) and European Public Health Alliance (EPHA): as a participation platform. Committee on Employment and Social affairs & Committee on Public Health: e.g. An EU health workforce crisis plan: sustainability of healthcare systems and employment and working conditions in the healthcare sector (2025/2062 INI). EU Global Health Policy Forum, Global Health Strategy Health Security Committee & Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) e.g. Assessment of the state of implementation of national prevention, preparedness and response plans and their relation with the Union prevention, preparedness and response plan, under the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (2024/2613 DEA).
Communication Activities
Communicating through events, conferences, papers, articles, newsletters, the implementation of the WHO policies into the EU context, focussing on topics such as OneHealth policy, the Pandemic Treaty/Agreement and Women's Rights, Poverty and Migration.
