Our Vision New knowledge and technology development within the Health & Life Sciences is moving extremely fast. And it is accelerating. This is a field which offers new technological solutions to all the significant challenges of mankind: Food, health, environment, climate, energy, materials and much more. The potential for value creation in the emerging bio-economy is vast, both for people and society and for business and industry. Health & Life Science Cluster Bulgaria (www.biocluster.bg) is a non-profit organization that unites businesses and organizations with Key Activities focused on the practical application of life sciences & health. Innovative companies in the field of drug discovery, genetic research, 3D human tissue printing, software solutions for medical and outpatient care, drug manufacturing, nutrition supplements, green technologies, bio-based technology, food tech, agritech and many more.

The Health and Life Sciences sector in the EU is targeted by several key legislative proposals and policies aimed at enhancing its competitiveness, resilience, and innovation. Here are some of the main initiatives: Main EU Legislative Proposals and Policies 1. Horizon Europe Work Programme 2025 Focus: The Health Cluster under Horizon Europe focuses on strengthening healthcare resilience, leveraging biotechnology and AI, and addressing public health needs. It supports initiatives like the "Healthier Together - EU Non-communicable Diseases Initiative" and the Cancer Mission. Objectives: Enhance healthcare efficiency, patient engagement, and trust in AI tools. It also aims to improve manufacturing processes for medical devices and support biotechnology and AI in healthcare. 2. EU4Health Programme 2021-2027 Focus: Building stronger, more resilient, and accessible health systems. It complements national policies to address long-term health challenges and crisis preparedness. Objectives: Improve health promotion, protect people from cross-border health threats, ensure access to medicinal products, and strengthen health systems through digital transformation. 3. European Health Data Space (EHDS) Regulation Focus: Providing a framework for data-based health research and innovation while ensuring compliance with EU data protection standards. Objectives: Leverage health data to fuel research and development of innovative health technologies. 4. Proposed EU Life Science Strategy and Biotech Act Focus: Strengthening Europe's life sciences sector by fostering competitive clusters, optimizing R&D spending, and improving the single market for innovation. Objectives: Position the EU as a global research and innovation center, an attractive location for investment, and a leading center for life sciences manufacturing. 5. EU Pharmaceutical Reform Focus: Part of broader efforts to enhance the EU's pharmaceutical sector, ensuring access to affordable and innovative medicines. 6. Beating Cancer Plan Focus: A comprehensive initiative to reduce cancer incidence and improve cancer care across the EU. 7. European Partnership on Transforming Health and Care Systems Focus: Enhancing the resilience of healthcare systems by promoting greener practices, addressing health inequities, and leveraging digital transformation.
