Mission & Goals
Hanze University of Applied Sciences is a public higher education institution based in Groningen, in the Northern Netherlands — a region at the forefront of the energy transition, healthy ageing, and circular economy development. As a knowledge partner for the region, Hanze connects education, applied research, and the professional field through innovation hubs and interdisciplinary collaboration. Its Strategic Plan 2026–2031 pursues four ambitions: embedding institutional partnerships and innovation hubs across the region; delivering flexible, AI-integrated education that addresses labour market shortages; conducting applied research aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals; and building an agile organisation where cooperation is central. Hanze leads the STARS European University alliance and the Hanze East Africa Hub.
