Mission & Goals
Hand in Hand Foundation ASBL promotes humanitarian cooperation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development through international collaboration. Our work focuses on non-formal education, youth exchanges, and capacity building to strengthen civic engagement and intercultural understanding. We advance public diplomacy by fostering dialogue between cultures and supporting people-to-people contacts. The foundation engages in international development initiatives that prioritize equity, inclusion, and community-led action. We are committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and work in partnership with civil society, public institutions, and local communities to create long-term, positive impact. Our aim is to empower individuals—especially young people and marginalized groups-to be active citizens and changemakers in their societies
EU Legislative Interests
Hand in Hand Foundation ASBL aims to contribute to EU policies promoting international cooperation, youth engagement, and sustainable development, particularly in the context of EU external relations with the SAARC region. We follow and support initiatives related to the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI), and Erasmus+ international mobility programs. Our focus includes enhancing people-to-people ties, educational exchange, and grassroots diplomacy between the EU and South Asia. We also engage with EU efforts on youth, climate, gender equality, and social inclusion in the external action framework. Our advocacy supports stronger EU-SAARC civil society collaboration and the inclusion of youth and marginalized voices in global development dialogue.
Communication Activities
Hand in Hand Foundation ASBL actively organizes diplomatic and intercultural events to support EU policies related to youth, development, and international cooperation, particularly between the EU and the SAARC region. These activities aim to foster understanding, dialogue, and collaboration between European and South Asian civil society, youth groups, and institutions. Our flagship communication activities include: Intercultural Youth Diplomacy Forums: We host forums bringing together youth leaders, educators, policymakers, and civil society actors from EU and SAARC countries to discuss shared challenges and opportunities. Topics have included climate resilience, gender equity, digital inclusion, and youth civic participation. EU-SAARC Roundtables and Embassy Dialogues: In partnership with diplomatic missions, we organize closed-door policy roundtables and networking events to build relationships between EU institutions, Member State embassies, and representatives from the South Asian region. These gatherings create space for informal diplomacy and policy exchange. Public Diplomacy Events: We plan cultural diplomacy events that combine artistic performances, storytelling, and public discussions to strengthen EU visibility and foster mutual understanding among citizens. These events are often aligned with Europe Day, International Youth Day, or relevant UN observances. Capacity-Building Workshops and Trainings: We design and deliver workshops for youth organizations, NGOs, and community leaders on EU external action, project development, and cross-cultural communication. These trainings also introduce participants to EU programs such as Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps, and funding tools under NDICI. Publication of Policy Briefs and Reports: We regularly publish accessible policy summaries, youth statements, and reflection papers following our events. These are disseminated to partners, institutions, and relevant stakeholders to feed grassroots insights into policymaking processes. Social Media Campaigns: We use digital storytelling, multilingual posts, and live coverage of events to promote EU-South Asia dialogue and highlight the role of youth in shaping inclusive international partnerships. Our approach to communication prioritizes inclusivity, participation, and long-term engagement. We strive to create safe and meaningful spaces for dialogue across borders and generations, aligned with the values of the EU and its global partnerships.
