Mission & Goals
Groupement des Cartes Bancaires CB is an Economic Interest Group (EIG) acting as a non-profit organisation in France which governs the CB card payment scheme through the provision of an open platform of interbank card payments and ATM cash withdrawals. CB brings together all stakeholders of the industry by organising spaces for dialogue and communication. CB has more than 100 member banks and payment institutions located around the world. As a payment scheme, CB defines the global architecture of the system, the interbank rules and procedures and manages risks. CB also defines the technical and security standards and ensures that the products and services used in the CB system comply with the requirements of these standards. In addition, CB operates an information system, offering its members high-performance data-mining tools to fight against fraud. CB is one of the largest payment schemes in the European Union where more than 65% of everyday consumption is paid for with a CB card,
