Mission & Goals

The Italian Initiative Group, GII, is an association that brings together the Italian community in Brussels in business, agribusiness, innovation, research, and services. Founded in 1995, the GII is committed to enhancing Italy's image in the European Capital by promoting high-profile meetings between the main Italian players and the highest representatives of Italian and European institutions.

EU Legislative Interests

GII promotes high-profile meetings with institutional and entrepreneurial spokesmen to discuss the most relevant topics regarding economics, finance, trade, business, industry, environment, energy, etc. In particular, GII targets the following policies: - EU Green Deal and Competitiveness - Recovery and resilience plan (PNRR) - NextGenerationEU - REPowerEU - Raw materials act - Net-Zero Industry Act - Critical Raw Materials Act - Digital Market Act & Digital Services Act - Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism - Draghi and Letta's Reports aimed at strengthening the EU's economic framework

Communication Activities

GII has organised meetings with high-level officials from the European Commission, who have been invited to share with GII members their visions and strategies around the European Economy, Jobs and Social rights, Trade, and Internal Market. GII has also organised an event dedicated to the Italian MEPs in January 2025. GII has also organized multiple high-level meetings with officials working for DG CONNECT, DG REFORM, and DG SANTE and has been involved in co-organizing conferences at the European Parliament on a variety of topics (e.g., European Economic Policy Forum, STEM skills, etc.). Finally, GII has invited officials from the European External Action Service and the Italian Permanent Representative in the EU to meet GII members and share their opinions regarding the role of Italy and the EU in the current geopolitical scenario.
