Mission & Goals

CANAL+ is a leading international pay TV player, with European roots and the ambition to promote local culture in a multitude of territories. This ambition is being deployed thanks to a global strategy relying on the strength of its employees, the diversity of its content, its digital development with the success of the CANAL+ app, and its international footprint with 40 million subscribers in 70 countries between Europe, Africa and Asia. In Europe, CANAL+ operates in 15 territories and heavily invests in the acquisition, production, distribution and restoration of content. Its in-house studio, STUDIOCANAL, a leading film and television studio, operates directly in 9 major European markets (France, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Poland), with worldwide production and distribution capabilities as well as the largest catalogue of European titles.

EU Legislative Interests

CANAL+ Group monitors various European legislations in the following areas: audiovisual regulation, competition law in the media and tech sectors, preservation of the territoriality of audiovisual rights, regulation of online content, protection of intellectual property rights, fight against piracy, in particular the piracy of live content, fight against counterfeiting of industrial property rights, issues related to TV and online advertising, data protection and consumer law.

Communication Activities

CANAL+ has participated in several events organized by its representative associations in Brussels, such as ACT (the Association of Private Broadcasters in Europe), and regularly attends joint or bilateral meetings with representatives of EU institutions.
