EU Legislative Interests

Our work focuses on affordable and sustainable housing. We monitor EU policies and initiatives that promote affordable, energy-efficient and sustainable housing for all. We closely follow EU policies and initiatives that support innovative construction methods (such as timber and modular buildings), smart home technologies, and circular economy approaches in housing. Relevant EU-level initiatives include: – The Affordable Housing Initiative (AHI) as part of the New European Bauhaus, which promotes innovative and sustainable housing projects; – The Be-WoodEN project, an EU-funded initiative promoting timber construction and circular design in social housing;.

Communication Activities

We actively engage in EU initiatives promoting innovation in affordable and sustainable housing. Our communication activities include: – Participation in the Call for Expressions of Interest by the European Commission under the initiative “Enhanced EU Engagement with the Western Balkans”, which supports sustainable investment in the region’s housing sector: https://enlargement.ec.europa.eu/enlargement-policy/enhanced-eu-engagement-western-balkans/publication-call-expressions-interest-eueeawestern-balkans-based-businesses-invest-western-balkans_en#express-interest – Planned institutional dialogue with the Commissioner for Energy and Housing and his cabinet to highlight the role of sustainable housing in fighting social exclusion, improving urban resilience, and supporting green transition goals.
