Mission & Goals
We are Greenagro, a Macedonian company dedicated to improving animal nutrition through innovative, sustainable, and science-based solutions. Since 2001, we’ve produced high-quality premixes, probiotics, and functional additives for livestock. Our mission is to support animal health, productivity, and farmer profitability through tailored feed solutions, education, and on-farm services. We also focus on research and development, collaborating with institutions to create thermostable probiotic yeast products. Through our Greenagro Educational Center, we promote circular agriculture, innovation, and responsible farming. We aim to reduce antibiotic use, enhance animal welfare, and contribute to a more sustainable agri-food system
EU Legislative Interests
Regulation (EU) 2019/6 on Veterinary Medicinal Products – Encourages reduced use of antibiotics and promotes alternatives like probiotics in animal health. Regulation (EU) No 1831/2003 on Additives for Use in Animal Nutrition – Governs authorization of probiotics and feed additives. European Green Deal – Specifically its Farm to Fork Strategy, which supports sustainable food systems, including reduced antibiotic use and circular practices in agriculture. Regulation (EU) 2021/2115 establishing rules for CAP Strategic Plans – Includes support for eco-schemes and knowledge transfer in agriculture. Horizon Europe Framework Programme Regulation (EU) 2021/695 – Greenagro targets projects under Cluster 6: Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment. EU Organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848 – Relevant when applying probiotics in organic animal farming.
Communication Activities
We have engaged in a range of communication activities with EU institutions in relation to legislative proposals and policies that directly affect animal nutrition, sustainable farming, education, and circular bioeconomy practices. Our primary outreach has occurred through active participation in EU-funded programs under Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, where we have aligned our proposals with the priorities set by EU legislation, particularly the Farm to Fork Strategy, CAP Strategic Plans, Regulation on Additives for Use in Animal Nutrition (Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003), and Regulation (EU) 2019/6 on Veterinary Medicinal Products. These engagements include formal project submissions, bilateral communication with National Contact Points (NCPs) and project officers, as well as involvement in public consultations and stakeholder surveys. Greenagro has submitted feedback through online consultation platforms (such as Have Your Say) particularly concerning the future use of probiotics in reducing antibiotic use in livestock farming. We have expressed our support for greater clarity and harmonization in feed additive regulation and proposed practical applications of yeast-based alternatives. We also provided case-based input to working groups organized by EU-funded knowledge networks where pilot studies on feed additives and circular agriculture were discussed with input from EU representatives and evaluators. In addition, we have participated in multiple online and in-person info sessions and brokerage events organized by the European Commission and supporting agencies like EIT Food and DG AGRI. These events allowed us to discuss our probiotic innovation and circular agriculture initiatives directly with EU-level policymakers, evaluators, and funding bodies. During these sessions, we communicated our position on barriers for SMEs in feed additive innovation and proposed simplifying procedures for probiotic approval and integration in organic farming systems under Regulation (EU) 2018/848. We have also engaged through EU-level consortiums and clusters. For example, in projects where we are a partner, we contributed to policy briefs shared with EU institutions. Our input focused on better integrating education and training on circular agriculture and digital innovation in rural development policy, particularly through vocational education and the European Skills Agenda. Through our Greenagro Educational Center, we have provided feedback to consultations related to education policy in the agricultural sector and participated in structured dialogue with EU representatives during Erasmus+ policy meetings. Furthermore, we have contributed to dissemination events and EU forums such as workshops held under the European Network for Rural Development (ENRD), where we highlighted the importance of micro-entrepreneurship and digital transformation in animal production. These activities help ensure our advocacy on behalf of sustainable animal feed production, and the practical needs of farmers, reaches relevant institutional stakeholders. To expand our communication efforts, we have established partnerships with universities, research institutions, and national industry associations involved in Brussels-based representation. These partnerships have allowed us indirect access to institutional communication channels such as policy roundtables and preparatory policy working groups. Through our consortium partners, we have also relayed our technical insights on yeast-based probiotic innovation and its role in antibiotic reduction strategies under the Farm to Fork framework. In summary, our communication with EU institutions has been active, multi-channeled, and strategic. It has involved direct contributions to consultations, project interactions, stakeholder feedback, and participation in dialogue platforms, all focused on aligning legislation with real-world practices and needs in sustainable animal nutrition, education, and circularity

Organisation Members
Greenagro is a privately owned company based in North Macedonia and does not operate under a membership structure like an association or federation. As such, we do not have individual or organizational members in the traditional sense. However, we maintain strong affiliations with various educational institutions, research centers, and private-sector partners that are actively involved in our operations, project development, and outreach activities. Below is a list of key affiliated entities with which Greenagro collaborates on a recurring or strategic basis: 1. Insect Lab – Spin-off and Innovation Partner Insect Lab is a Greenagro spin-off focused on the development of novel protein sources from insect biomass, aligned with circular agriculture and sustainable feed production. The collaboration includes joint R&D, production planning, and resource sharing. Insect Lab also participates in EU project applications and innovation pilots led by Greenagro. 2. Greenagro Educational Center This is our internal educational and training unit established to promote lifelong learning, entrepreneurship, and innovation in agriculture. While not a separate legal entity, it functions as a structured program within Greenagro and is responsible for developing course modules, organizing training events, and leading Erasmus+ and other education-focused project proposals. 3. Veterinary Faculty – University of Skopje We collaborate with veterinary researchers and professors from this faculty for trials, product testing, and co-development of academic research. While not a contractual partner in all activities, the faculty often engages in joint initiatives through formal agreements or project-based cooperation. 4. Agricultural Secondary Schools Greenagro partners with local secondary schools specializing in agriculture and veterinary education. These affiliations focus on co-developing vocational training curricula, implementing internships, and delivering guest lectures. They are frequently included as project partners in education-focused grant applications. 5. Ministry of Education and Science – North Macedonia (Supporting Partner) While not a formal member or partner, the Ministry has expressed support for Greenagro’s involvement in modernizing vocational education through letters of support in Erasmus+ projects. We consider this affiliation strategic in terms of policy alignment and sustainability of educational initiatives. 6. Poultry and Livestock Farms (Clients and Test Sites) Greenagro maintains long-term working relationships with several poultry and dairy farms across North Macedonia and the region. These farms act as field partners for product testing and validation of our probiotic solutions. Some also contribute to training programs hosted by our educational center. Probiotic Manufacturing Partners We maintain production and R&D collaborations with local and regional yeast and probiotic producers, including a yeast factory in Bitola. These partnerships are essential for scaling production, improving technology, and exploring human-grade applications of probiotic strains initially developed for animals. These affiliated entities enable Greenagro to maintain a practical, science-based, and multi-sectoral approach to sustainable agriculture and animal nutrition. While we do not manage a membership base, we operate within a broad and growing network of collaborators across academia, private industry, government, and civil society—each contributing to our mission of improving food systems through circularity, education, and innovation.
