Mission & Goals

We are a campaigning, UK-based think tank with a mission to create a fairer British economy. We conduct political and policy research to develop ideas to influence governments. This includes public attitudes polling, focus groups, economic analysis and policy development. We have a progressive political outlook, but we engage with politicians from different political parties in the UK. The Director and Founder of the think is Praful Nargund, who is an elected Labour Party councillor, which is a position in local government. His term ends in May 20206. He has previously stood for the Labour party in the 2024 general election.. We are structured as a non-profit in the UK.

EU Legislative Interests

Our main focus in relation to the EU is exploring the relationship between the UK and the European Union. We are therefore seeking to influence negotiations and agreements between the UK and the EU. There are no specific EU instruments in mind, other than to the extent it is something that is or might be included in future UK-EU agreements. For example, we have called for integration of carbon and electricity markets between the UK and EU, access for the UK to SAFE, and for a youth mobility scheme between the UK and the EU. We have also previously made recommendations on the structure of arbitration between the UK and the EU, for example covering the role of the ECJ in any SPS agreement.

Communication Activities

We conduct research, which we often publish as reports. We publicise our work via the media and organising events.
