Mission & Goals

Goldsmiths is part of the University of London and part of the UK's higher education sector. Members of our academic staff regularly apply for funding for research projects under EU schemes such the ERC's investigator programmes, Erasmus and Horizon Europe programme. We also have students at under- and post-graduate levels. Further description on our website: http://www.gold.ac.uk/about/about-goldsmiths/ Engagement with the EU Parliament is primarily in relation to the findings and inventions created from our EU-funded research. Our academic staff may also be called to act as expert witnesses from other research areas as the university's research is internationally known.

EU Legislative Interests

(1) Applicants for research funding under Horizon 2020 schemes, including MSCA. (2) Applicants for research funding under European Research Council schemes. (3) Erasmus+ schemes that have been awarded are supporting until 2023 latest.

Communication Activities

As part of the UNCHARTED research project, funded by the Horizon 2020 Programme of the EU, the Roadmap for cultural policy action was published in January 2024: https://uncharted-culture.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/D4.6-Roadmap-for-cultural-policy-action.pdf The following Goldsmiths academics and researchers participated in the UNCHARTED Consortium: Prof Victoria Alexander, Dr Oonagh Murphy, Oliver Peterson Gilbert and Cecilia Sosa. As part of the RECLAIM research project, for which Goldsmiths received funding via the EPSRC UK Research Council, the following events were held, facilitated by the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA): Roundtable event - 18 October 2024 RECLAIM Final Conference - 27 June 2025 There events involved the participation of representatives of the European Commission, European Parliament, General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union, Directorate General for Research and Innovation, Directorate General for Communication, and European External Action Service. Prof Saul Newman of Goldsmiths University was Co-Investigator as part of RECLAIM and participated in the events.
