Mission & Goals
GML Limited is a diversified financial holding company established in 1997. Its goal is to obtain justice for the unlawful expropriation of its investment in the former Yukos Oil Company. GML was the majority shareholder of the former Yukos Oil Company. In 2014, an independent international Arbitral Tribunal in The Hague ruled unanimously that Yukos was illegally expropriated by the Russian Federation. The Tribunal awarded compensation of more than $50 billion to the former majority shareholders. The awards went through a prolonged and exhaustive appeals process in the Dutch Court system until the Dutch Supreme Court definitively upheld the arbitral awards in 2025. GML aims to ensure that the Arbitral Awards are upheld, and that the Russian Federation complies with them.
EU Legislative Interests
GML aims to inform the EU institutions about its legal proceedings in the Netherlands, since those proceedings are relevant to a number of EU principles and policies, including the rule of law, promotion of investment, energy policy, and relations with the Russian Federation.
Communication Activities
GML operates a public website (www.gmllimited.com) and Twitter account (@GML_Limited), and produces written and audiovisual materials for both platforms.
