Mission & Goals
The Global Solutions Initiative is a global collaborative enterprise comprised of a network of world-renowned think tanks. It proposes policy responses to major global problems, addressed by the G20, the G7 and other global governance fora. The Global Solutions Initiative was founded during the 2017 German G20 Presidency. The Global Solutions Initiative is a stepping stone to the T20 and G20 Summits and supports the Think20 process for think tanks. Our Vision: - To provide research-based policy advice to help governments tackle major global challenges of the G20 and beyond - To generate proposals for aligning business, civil societies and governments for global problem-solving to address human needs in thriving societies - To start a world-wide movement that aims to recouple economic, political and environmental prosperity with social prosperity
EU Legislative Interests
The Global Solutions Initiative envisions, proposes and evaluates policy responses to major global problems (global governance and multilateralism, climate action, digital and AI transofmration, global finance, geoeconomics and trade etc.). In this, GSI generates Policy Briefs for the policy leaders of the G20, the G7, the European Union and other international fora. Decision-makers from policy-making, business and civil society contribute to the formulation of relevant policy proposals and provide a crucial bridge between the recommendations generated by the research institutions and their implementation.
Communication Activities
1. The Global Solutions Initiative envisions, proposes and evaluates policy responses to major global problems. It generates cutting edge Policy Briefs for the policy leaders of the G20, G7, the EU and other international fora and organisations. 2. The Global Solutions Journals (https://www.global-solutions-initiative.org/publications/journal/) are released at the annual Global Solutions Summit and at official Think20 (T20) and Think7 events. 3. The Global Solutions Summit is an international conference aimed at addressing key policy challenges facing the G20, G7, EU and other global governance fora. Distinguished experts from think tanks, research organizations, governance, business, and civil society come together each year in the middle of every G20 Presidency to work on concrete policy solutions. In the past, EU commissioners, Vice Presidents and high-ranking Eu officials were distinguished guests at the Global Solutions Summit. 4. The Global Solutions Initiative collects submissions for a blog series 'Solution Spaces: For People and Planet'.
