Mission & Goals
The Global Interagency Security Forum (GISF) is a member-led network of 130+ NGOs dedicated to strengthening security risk management (SRM) across the humanitarian, development, and human rights sectors. GISF’s goal is to enable safe and sustainable access to people in need by supporting robust, relevant SRM practices. Through peer learning, research, collaboration, and policy influence, GISF helps NGOs strengthen internal capacities and collectively address systemic challenges. As the only independent NGO network focused solely on SRM, GISF provides a trusted space for NGOs to share experience, drive innovation, and advocate for strengthened safety and security policy and practice across the NGO sector.
EU Legislative Interests
GISF's work targets priorities within the European Consensus on Humanitarian Aid and European Consensus on Development, particularly around the safety and security of humanitarian workers, and enabling humanitarian aid in complex political and security contexts. GISF is also a consortium partner of DG ECHO’s Protect Aid Workers initiative providing financial and legal assistance to aid workers facing critical incidents, as well as the PARTAGE project providing security risk management support to local and national NGOs in the Sahel.
