Mission & Goals
Global Innovation Gathering (GIG) is a vibrant, diverse community of innovation hubs, makerspaces, hackerspaces and other grassroot innovation community spaces and initiatives as well as individual innovators, makers, technologists and changemakers. GIG is pursuing a new vision for global cooperation based on equality, openness and sharing. We aim to enable more diversity in the production of technology, and global innovation processes and support open and sustainable solutions developed by grassroot innovators.
EU Legislative Interests
* Digital rights aspects connected to open source principles and digital hardware such as right to repair * International relations aspects such as visa issues related to people from the global south being able to travel for work and exchange purposes * Funding for open source and digital rights projects provided by the EU * global (digital) development cooperation
Communication Activities
Proposal submitted together with Julia Kloiber to suggest an open source and digital rights themed EU fund, in particular for non-profit organisations and projects in May 2021
