Mission & Goals

The Global AMR R&D Hub was launched in May 2018, following a call from G20 Leaders, to address challenges and improve coordination and collaboration in global AMR R&D using a One Health approach. The Global AMR R&D Hub supports global priority setting and evidence-based decision-making on allocation of resources for AMR R&D through the identification of gaps, overlaps and potential for cross-sectoral collaboration. It is a global partnership currently consisting of 19 countries, the European Commission (EC) and two philanthropic foundations - the Gates Foundation and the Wellcome Trust. Our work is steered by a Board of Members, in consultation with a Stakeholder Group, and supported by a Secretariat based in Berlin. The Hub's key activities include continual development of its Dynamic Dashboard, a key information platform for AMR R&D funding across the One Health spectrum, as well as AMR advocacy and communication efforts at the highest political levels.

EU Legislative Interests

The Global AMR R&D Hub targets the following EU legislative proposals and policies: 1. A European One Health Action Plan against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A52017DC0339&qid=1678797696775; https://oeil.secure.europarl.europa.eu/oeil/popups/ficheprocedure.do?reference=2017/2254(INI)&l=en 2. Communication Activities

Communication activities to raise awareness of AMR and the challenges faced is a major component of the Global AMR R&D Hub's work. Although our communication activities do not focus solely on the legislative proposals/policies indicated above, the Hub's work encompasses the broader themes and issues covered in these policies, including research and development of products for addressing AMR and the optimisation of market incentives to encourage their sustainable market entry of and equitable access to these necessary new priority products. Examples activities include: Events: • Participation in multiple events on AMR R&D and pull incentives as part of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, March & June 2022; Participation in G20 Health Working Group meetings 2023, 2024 & 2025, participation in the G7 Health Working Group session on AMR in 2025 Networks: • Founding member of the German Network Against AMR (DNAMR) - https://dnamr.de/ Publications - see https://globalamrhub.org/publications/: 1.
