Mission & Goals

EU Legislative Interests
Our focus is on EU Housing policy. While Housing is a national competency the EU has taken several initiatives in this 2024-2029 mandate that reflects the pan European nature of the housing crisis. 1. Appointment of an EU Commissioner for Housing in 2024 (Dan Jorgenson) 2. Establishment of a Housing Taskforce in 2025 3. Establishment of an EU Housing Advisory Board in 2025 ( Chaired by Eamon Ryan) 4. EU Commission Affordable Housing Plan (December 2025) 5. EU Parliament Special Committee on the Housing Crisis Report (March 2026) The main thrust of the recommendations underpinning these reports are across three areas: 1. Funding and investment 2. Regulatory Simplification (MMC first is a key Commission goal while 60 day Planning Permits is amongst the EU Parliament recommendations) 3. Tenancy protections and Short-Term Lettings Regulation Overall, the EU is moving away from its old advisory role and into an active policy space. Glenveagh wishes to understand this evolving policy space more and help inform it.
