Mission & Goals

General Recycled LTD (GR) specializes in closed-loop, fibre-to-fibre recycling of meta-aramid-based flame-resistant workwear and technical textiles. We collaborate with industrial end-users and supply chain partners to divert end-of-life aramid garments from landfills and incineration. Our process recovers high-quality staple fibre, which is then used in spinning, fabric production, and the creation of new garments, among other products. Our mission is to scale circular solutions for aramid personal protective equipment (PPE) and technical textiles. We achieve this through collection programs, quality-controlled processing, modular recycling plants, technology licensing, and industry partnerships. These efforts aim to reduce waste, lower carbon impact, and strengthen resilient local supply chains.

EU Legislative Interests

General Recycled’s engagement relates primarily to EU policy and legislative initiatives concerning sustainable textiles, circular economy, waste management and sustainable products. In particular, this includes: - the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles - the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and related work to develop a single market for sustainable products - the targeted revision of the Waste Framework Directive relating to textiles, including mandatory and harmonised Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes for textiles and support for separate collection and improved textile recycling across the EU - the Commission’s wider Circular Economy Act agenda aimed at creating market demand for secondary raw materials and establishing a more effective single market for waste and circular materials. General Recycled’s interest in these initiatives is focused on the role of closed-loop recycling of aramid-based protective textiles and technical textiles, including how EU policy can support textile circularity, recycled-content markets, industrial competitiveness, waste reduction and high-value fibre recovery.

Communication Activities

General Recycled’s communication activities in relation to these EU policies consist primarily of direct stakeholder engagement and policy-related business outreach. These activities include bilateral meetings and meeting requests with representatives of EU institutions, email correspondence, preparation and sharing of briefing materials, company background information, and technical information concerning aramid textile recycling, circular economy applications and sustainable product value chains. Communication activity is focused on explaining General Recycled’s closed-loop recycling solution for aramid-based protective textiles and technical textiles, and on contributing practical industry input relevant to sustainable textiles, waste policy, secondary raw materials, industrial circularity and textile recycling implementation. At this stage, these activities are targeted, informational and issue-specific rather than broad public campaigns.
