Mission & Goals

The Sant Joan de Déu Research Foundation (FSJD) is a private, non-profit research organization founded in 2002. Its mission is to conduct research on the health problems faced by paediatric medicine and on how these problems affect human development, both in the field of physical and mental health, with the ultimate goal of improving people’s well-being and quality of life. FSJD contributes to this mission by fostering, supporting, and managing the research and innovation activities of the Barcelona Children’s Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD), Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (PSSJD), and other affiliated organizations. The Foundation provides specialized services and support to researchers, and its structure includes a Clinical Trials Unit, a Research Support Office, Administration and Human Resources Department, a Clinical Research Ethics Committee, Knowledge Management and Communication services, and a Department of Patient Engagement in Research, among other facilities and services.

Networking, Advocacy & Social Action 4.1 – Participation in European networks and conferences to advocate for mental health, inclusion, digital health and child rights in line with EU initiatives. 4.2 – Employment training programs and youth employment support aligned with the European Pillar of Social Rights. 4.3 – Migration support programmes, awareness actions and advocacy for refugees and migrant families. 4.4 – Homelessness initiatives such as “Ningú sense llar” with publications and awareness campaigns contributing to the EU Platform on Combating Homelessness.

European Social Policy & Inclusion Networks 1.1 – FSJD is a member of the European Social Network (ESN), contributing to EU social services transformation, social justice and inclusion policies. 2. Child & Youth Participation Networks 2.1 – FSJD leads KIDS Barcelona within the European Young Persons Advisory Group Network (eYPAGnet), promoting child and youth engagement in clinical research and collaboration with EU pediatric research initiatives. 3.
