Mission & Goals
Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), founded in 1944, is a technical-scientific and educational institution, legal entity governed by private law, not for profit with philanthropic nature, with headquarters and jurisdiction in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In order to fulfill its mission of stimulating national development, it operates, bearing scientific character, with an emphasis on the field of social sciences: Administration, Law, Economy, Applied Mathematics and Information and Communication Technology, in order to contribute for the Brazilian people’s education through the generation and spreading of knowledge, as well as to contribute in solving basic problems of the country’s economic development and social welfare. Moreover, it provides technical assistance to public or private organizations, in order to assist them in the pursue of efficiency, productivity and services quality. Ranked as the 3rd most important think tank in the World.
