Mission & Goals
Free Voices Collective e.V. is a Berlin-based NGO (registered association) focused on protecting and empowering civil society actors, especially journalists, human rights defenders, activists, LGBTIQ+ citizens, and NGOs with a special emphasis on the South Caucasus region. The core missions of Free Voices Collective e.V. is to support and strengthen democratic rights and freedoms in South Caucasus region by: - Protecting journalists, activists and NGOs who face persecution or prosecution, particularly in the South Caucasus. - Creating opportunities and safe spaces for civil society actors within the region and abroad. - Advocating systemic legal, media and democratic reforms to foster an environment where civil liberties are respected and protected.
EU Legislative Interests
EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy (2020–2024 and subsequent frameworks); EU Guidelines on Freedom of Expression Online and Offline; EU Guidelines on Human Rights Defenders; European Union Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime; EU enlargement and neighbourhood policies as they relate to civil society, media freedom and protection of human rights defenders, particularly in the Eastern Partnership and South Caucasus regions.
Communication Activities
- Monitoring and analysis of EU human rights and freedom of expression policies; - preparation of written briefings, policy inputs and public statements referring to EU human rights frameworks; - participation in public consultations, conferences, roundtables and civil society events organised by or involving EU institutions; - informal exchanges with EU officials and Members of the European Parliament in the context of events and advocacy on the protection of journalists, human rights defenders and civil society actors, particularly in the EU’s neighbourhood and external action.
