Mission & Goals
Formal Education Network for Private Schools (FENPS) is a local none for profit organization dedicated to providing education, healthcare, protection, and livelihood opportunities to the underserved populations in Somalia. This group includes young girls, children from minority communities, internally displaced individuals, refugees, returnees, persons with disabilities, and children from disadvantaged backgrounds who frequently lack access to basic services. In emergency situations, FENPS prioritizes rehabilitating damaged classrooms, building temporary learning spaces and WASH facilities, distribution of teaching and learning materials, and training teachers to create safer environments for children to live and learn, aligning its work with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (quality education).
EU Legislative Interests
Main EU legislative proposals or policies discussed during the COHAFA participation include a focus on Education in Emergencies. In this context, on behalf of my organization, I will deliver a presentation highlighting the critical role of education in crisis-affected settings. The presentation will address the challenges faced by displaced and marginalized communities in accessing education, the importance of integrating education into humanitarian responses, and the need for robust EU policies to support sustainable and inclusive educational initiatives in emergency contexts.
Communication Activities
Communication activities related to EU policies on Education in Emergencies include organizing events, such as workshops and conferences, to engage stakeholders and share best practices. Additionally, campaigns and publications are used to raise awareness, advocate for policy support, and highlight successful initiatives in crisis-affected settings.
