Mission & Goals
In April 1993 the Forest and Land Owners' Association of Lithuania (FOAL) was founded with the initiative to represent the interest of forest owners and to develop the institutional framework for the family forestry and subsequently became registered as a public organisation (on 8 June, 1993). The creation of a strong and independent private forestry movement in Lithuania, based on shared values, has been a major goal of FOAL since its creation, as demand for knowledge in forestry was increasing and a growing community of forest owners with increasingly common purposes emerged. The FOAL is the national interest organization for the forest owners in Lithuania and has the status of an independent public NGO. FOAL is recognized national organization in Lithuania and internationally. FOAL took active part in several research and development projects, with the focus on objectives related to management of private forests - CO-FOREST, SOILVALUE, H2020 MySustainableForest, INTERREG BalticBiomass4Value, LIFE Nutribiomass4LIFE: -NutriBiomass4LIFE - Nutrient recycling circular economy model for large cities – water treatment sludge and ashes to biomass to bio-energy.
