Mission & Goals

The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping (the Center) is a not-for-profit, independent research and development center registered in Denmark and active in waterborne related sectors. The Center’s mission is to be a visible and significant driving force in the global maritime decarbonization journey. The aim is to reach zero carbon emissions from global shipping by 2050. To fulfill the mission, the Center is working across the European and global energy and shipping sectors with industry, academia, and authorities. With partners, we are creating an overview of viable decarbonization pathways, facilitating the development and safe implementation of new energy technologies; building confidence in concepts and their supply chains; and accelerating the required systemic change.
