Mission & Goals
Villa Maraini is the National Agency for Addictions of the Italian Red Cross and one of the leading organization in Italy active in the field of substance abuse treatment and care. Founded in 1976, it offers a wide range of services and programmes for people affected by drug and/or alcohol addiction and their families, reaching more than 3.000 people annually. These services include therapeutic communities, outpatient treatment programmes, a clinic centre for pharmacological therapies, outreach street units, emergency unit, drop-in centre and night shelter, support activities for drug offenders in prison and in alternative measures to detention. The Foundation is open 24 hours every day of the year. At international level, Villa Maraini acts as Training and Research Centre of the IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies), providing capacity building activities, technical assistance and guidelines to CSOs and public institutions worldwide.

Participation in the Commission Public consultation on the drafting and evaluation of the EU Drugs Strategy and other EU recommendations and policies related to public health.
Communication Activities
Organization of side events on effective drug policies and approaches at the UNODC CND, since 2009.
