Mission & Goals

The Association’s objective is to proactively enhance Latvia’s business and financial services environment in cooperation with partners from state institutions, the non-governmental sector, and other industries, while strengthening the international reputation and global competitiveness of Latvia’s financial sector.

EU Legislative Interests

Finance Latvia Association focuses primarily on initiatives related to payments and digital innovation, including T2S, ISO 20022, instant payments, retail payments, PSR/PSD3, FIDA, strong customer authentication (SCA), crypto-assets, crowdfunding, and related topics.

Communication Activities

Finance Latvia Association is to purposefully improve the environment of business and financial services in Latvia in cooperation with partners from State institutions, the non-governmental sector and other sectors, as well as to improve the international reputation of the Latvian financial sector and its competitiveness on an international level. The Association represents the interests of the financial sector in institutions of different levels in Latvia and internationally and coordinates the addressing of topical issues on the agenda of the entire sector. The organization also provides its clients with consultations. Whereas the Ombudsman of the Association helps to discover and resolve possible disagreements among the Latvian banks and clients. Significant lines of action are also the improvement of the financial literacy of Latvian people, as well as improving the qualification of banking sector professionals. The Association also summarizes data of the financial sector and analyzes trends. Finance Latvia Association is the member of European Bank Federation.

Finance Latvia Association's organization's goals in the fields of new legislative proposals for the banking sector, for example, providing opinions and participating in consultations is managed through the European Banking Federation. Therefore the estimate of annual costs related to activities covered by the register are made of membership fees which are paid to the European Banking Federation.
