Mission & Goals

Fimar Marble DOOEL is a marble processing company based in North Macedonia, focused on producing high-quality, value-added marble products for domestic and international markets. Its main goals are to promote sustainable industrial growth, increase export capacity, and support regional employment through modern, environmentally responsible manufacturing. The company aims to align its operations with EU quality, environmental, and social standards while contributing to the long-term development of North Macedonia’s natural stone industry. Fimar Marble is committed to innovation and the adoption of energy-efficient, low-emission technologies in all aspects of its production. Through its activities, Fimar Marble contributes to EU strategic objectives such as green transition, circular economy, and regional economic integration. The company also seeks to expand its role in cross-border value chains by partnering with buyers across the EU.

EU Legislative Interests

Fimar Marble currently focuses its interest representation activities on the following EU legislative proposals and policy frameworks: Regulation (EU) 2020/852 on the establishment of a framework to facilitate sustainable investment (EU Taxonomy Regulation) Directive 2022/2464 on Corporate Sustainability Reporting (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive – CSRD) Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products (Revision of the Construction Products Regulation, COM/2022/144 final) Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 on market surveillance and compliance of products Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 laying down rules on the making available on the market of EU fertilising products (relevant for by-product valorization and circular economy integration) EU Green Deal – Communication from the Commission: The European Green Deal (COM/2019/640 final) Communication from the Commission: A new Industrial Strategy for Europe (COM/2020/102 final) Communication from the Commission: A Long-term Vision for the EU's Rural Areas – Towards stronger, connected, resilient and prosperous rural areas by 2040 (COM/2021/345 final) These legislative frameworks directly impact Fimar Marble’s operations in terms of environmental compliance, sustainability reporting, product market access, and its alignment with EU-supported green and industrial transition strategies. Fimar Marble actively engages with a range of specific EU laws and proposals to ensure its marble‐processing operations remain at the forefront of sustainability, quality, and market compliance. It has mobilized its advocacy around the EU Taxonomy Regulation, which defines sustainable economic activities, and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive to enhance transparency in its environmental and social performance. To streamline product marketing and conformity, the company follows the revised Construction Products Regulation and the Market Surveillance and Compliance Regulation, while also exploring by-product valorization opportunities under the EU fertilising products regulation to support circular economy goals. Finally, Fimar Marble contributes to broader strategic dialogues shaped by the European Green Deal, the new Industrial Strategy for Europe, and the long-term vision for rural areas, aligning its growth with EU priorities for a resilient, resource-efficient industry.

Communication Activities

Fimar Marble maintains a continuous and active monitoring of all relevant EU legislative developments, ensuring timely adaptation and input through systematic outreach and information sharing: Consultation Monitoring & Written Feedback – We track all open consultations on the EU Taxonomy Regulation and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive via the Commission’s “Have your say” portal. When proposals are published, our technical team reviews draft texts within days and submits targeted position comments detailing processing-specific metrics and feasible compliance timelines. – For the Construction Products Regulation revision, we closely followed DG GROW’s consultation phases and provided structured written feedback on harmonized testing methods and CE-marking processes, ensuring our contributions reflected practical factory-floor realities. Event Attendance & Information Gathering – Fimar Marble delegates regularly attend public workshops and stakeholder webinars organized by DG ENV, DG CLIMA, and the Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform. – We subscribe to and review all European Commission and European Parliament committee livestreams and summary reports related to the Green Deal, the Industrial Strategy, and rural development communications, ensuring we capture policy shifts as they occur. Bilateral Follow-Up & Clarification Requests – Whenever complex guidance or implementation guidelines are published—particularly on the “do no significant harm” criteria under the EU Taxonomy—we submit written clarification requests to DG CLIMA and DG ENV through the Commission’s Contact Point for SMEs. Industry Network Engagement & Dissemination – We maintain a monthly “EU Policy Watch” newsletter for internal stakeholders and external clients—architects, construction firms, and distributors—summarizing legislative milestones, deadlines for feedback, and key compliance actions. Industry Conferences and Site Visits – Presented at the European Stone Industry Forum in Verona (September 2024) on aligning marble processing with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive’s disclosures. Ongoing Internal Reviews & Action Plans – As each legislative file progresses from proposal to adoption, our cross-functional ESG task force convenes to review impact assessments, draft updated standard operating procedures, and prepare staff training modules. This ensures that policy changes—from the EU Taxonomy to the Construction Products Regulation—translate into concrete operational adjustments without delay. By actively following consultation calendars, attending stakeholder sessions, submitting precise written feedback, and leveraging industry networks, Fimar Marble ensures its interests are informed and considered at every stage of EU policy development—while continuously adapting its processes to meet emerging legislative requirements.
