Mission & Goals

The Fiber Carrier Association aims to promote investment in high-capacity fibre networks across Europe, ensure regulatory frameworks support open and competitive network deployment, and advocate for EU funding that accelerates broadband rollout in underserved areas. We also seek to raise awareness of the strategic importance of fibre infrastructure for emerging technologies such as AI and data-intensive applications. We do this through events with stakeholders, publishing reports and are an active member of E-LFA.eu

EU Legislative Interests

Our interest representation activities focus primarily on EU legislation and policies related to digital connectivity and fibre infrastructure, including the European Electronic Communications Code (Directive (EU) 2018/1972) and its ongoing review, the Gigabit Infrastructure Act (COM(2023) 94 final), the Connecting Europe Facility – Digital, and the Digital Decade Policy Programme 2030. We also follow related frameworks such as the Data Act, the Cybersecurity Act, and the Net-Zero Industry Act where they affect network deployment and digital infrastructure development.

Communication Activities

The Fiber Carrier Association communicates its positions on EU digital connectivity and infrastructure policies through a range of targeted activities. These include organizing and participating in conferences, workshops, webinars, and roundtables focused on EU telecom legislation and funding programs; publishing policy papers, reports, and briefings on the European Electronic Communications Code, the Gigabit Infrastructure Act, the Digital Decade Policy Programme, and related initiatives; engaging directly with EU institutions, national regulators, and Members of the European Parliament through meetings, consultations, and advocacy letters; and keeping members informed via newsletters, website updates, and social media channels about relevant EU policy developments, consultations, and funding opportunities.
