Mission & Goals
Fenster zur Hoffnung is a registered association based in Berlin. Its remit is to promote fundamental rights and European values by defending freedom of expression, ensuring access to uncensored and independent information, and raising awareness of human rights violations. The association empowers civil society actors—journalists, artists, writers—and engages with European institutions and networks to foster democracy, pluralism and transparency.
EU Legislative Interests
The association follows and contributes to EU initiatives and policies related to the protection of fundamental rights, freedom of expression, media pluralism and civil society. In particular, it is interested in: – the EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy, – the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, – the European Democracy Action Plan, – the Media Freedom Act, – and EU policies on the abolition of the death penalty and the protection of human rights defenders.
Communication Activities
The association conducts information sessions and engages in awareness-raising initiatives. It actively seeks dialogue with Members of the European Parliament and other EU institutions to contribute to the promotion of transparency, pluralism and the safeguarding of human rights defenders.
