Mission & Goals

Founded in 1918, FEDIL – The Voice of Luxembourg's Industry is today a multisectoral business federation representing the industry, construction and business services sectors. As regards the Luxembourg economy, the FEDIL member companies represent •25% of added value •30% of domestic employment •+/-8 billion EUR per year in exports At national level, FEDIL’s main objective is to defend the professional interests of its members and analyse all economic, social and industrial issues relating thereto. Furthermore, FEDIL endeavours to develop the spirit and links of solidarity between Luxembourg employers. At EU level, FEDIL is affiliated to BUSINESSEUROPE (www.businesseurope.eu) and has a representative office in Brussels. As an organisation representing Luxembourg employers, it participates in the activities of the International Labour Conference (ILO) in Geneva. EU Legislative Interests

FEDIL represents the interests of its member companies in the fields of industrial policy, energy policy, climate change and environmental policy, internal market legislation, digital and innovation policy, labour law and social affairs, trade and international relations, as well as other ESG policies stemming from the Green Deal. FEDIL acts to promote the competitiveness of Luxembourg companies within a fully integrated EU Single Market. The main targeted EU legislative or policy proposals are: 1) Industrial policy, energy policy, climate change and environmental policy -Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) -Clean Industrial Deal (CID), Affordable Energy Action Plan (AEAP), Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act (IDAA) -Initiatives related to chemical recycling and mass balance -Circular Economy Act -Water resilience strategy -“Fit for 55” climate package and the EU’s 2040 climate objectives 2) Digital economy and innovation policies -Digital Networks Act and the review of the European Electronic Communications Code -Regulation on harmonised rules on fair access to and use of data (Data Act) (at both EU and national level) -Regulation laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (AI Act) (at both EU and national level) -Directive on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the Union (NIS2 Directive) -Digital Omnibus and related simplification policies 3) Legal affairs, labour law and social affairs -Directive on the protection of persons who report breaches of Union law (Whistleblower Protection Directive) -Directive strengthening the application of the principle of equal pay for equal work or work of equal value between men and women through pay transparency and enforcement mechanisms (EU Pay Transparency Directive) -Directive concerning the posting of workers in the framework of the provision of services -Regulations on EU social security coordination (Regulations 883/2004 and 987/2009) 4) Internal market legislation and legal affairs - Single Market Strategy - Regulation on a public interface for declaration of posting of workers (eDeclaration) - Competition law such as the Revision of the EU Antitrust Procedural Rules, Review of the Merger Guidelines and review of the Digital Markets Act - the 28th legal regime 5) Trade and international relations -EU-US agreements, other free trade agreements, supply chain policies, and tariff and non-tariff barriers -Trade defence instruments 6) ESG policies -Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) -Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) -Taxonomy Regulation -Omnibus on Sustainability
