Mission & Goals

Founded in 1998, FEDEC (Féderation Européenne des Écoles de Cirque professionnelles) is the international network for professional circus education. Since 1998, our aim is to support the development and evolution of training, teaching and creation in the field of circus arts. The majority of existing circus professional schools are represented in the network of more than 80 members, including schools from the secondary, vocational and higher education sectors, as well as national federations, organizations of professionals in the field and information centers. The network allows the organisation of bilateral and multilateral exchanges and training for students, teachers and school staff. In addition, the FEDEC maintains close relationships with circus companies, businesses, employers, festivals, places of continuing education, training and residency, national associations and leisure schools.

EU Legislative Interests

FEDEC advocates for a stronger support, at all levels, to the sector of performing arts, in particular for circus arts education. Therefore, our initiatives target all legislative and policies concerning culture, arts, youth, education, training, sport, employment, citizenship, EU-Values. We also contribute to the following EU programmes: - Erasmus+ programme - Creative Europe programme - CERV Programme

Communication Activities

FEDEC has long-standing expertise in the management of international projects. Since 2017, it is supported by the European Commission through the civil society cooperation instrument, which provides support to European networks active in the fields of education, training and youth, with the aim of raise awareness of European policies and strengthen cooperation with public authorities. In 2023-2025, in the framework of the SPEAK-OUT project, FEDEC coordinated a raise-awareness campaign on preventing all forms of sexism and gender-based discrimination and violence in the circus arts sector In 2025-2026 FEDEC is coordinating a raising-awareness campaign on demystifying mental health issues, in the framework of the Take Care project.

Since 2017, FEDEC is receiving an annual grant by the European Commission through the Civil Society Cooperation in Education and Training grant.
