Mission & Goals
The Federation of Aggregates (FdA) represents the interests of the companies that produce aggregates in Spain, both nationally and internationally, before European Union Institutions. Among the purposes set forth in the FDA's Bylaws, it is stated to represent the aggregates sector before the institutions both before the European institutions and the Government of the Kingdom of Spain. Since its foundation, the spirit and purpose of the Federation has been none other than to represent the common interests and needs of aggregate entrepreneurs both nationally and before European institutions. The FdA represents a qualitative and quantitative leap in strengthening the sector's representation before state and international administrations and institutions; Thanks to its creation, the sector is heard with a single voice, respected and consolidated, which allows the Federation to work to satisfy the interests and competences of the entities that comprise it.

Communication Activities
Over the course of 2024 and the first half of 2025, the Federación de Áridos (FDA) has significantly intensified its engagement in national and European public consultations and policy discussions. These contributions have focused on critical raw materials, biodiversity, industrial competitiveness, sustainability, and regulatory modernisation, either directly or through its active membership in European organisations such as UEPG, the European Aggregates Association. A central element of FDA’s advocacy is the sustainability–competitiveness duality, a principle the organisation promotes through every communication channel. FDA firmly believes that extractive activity must be both environmentally respectful and economically viable. In this spirit, the Federation participates in consultations, prepares technical reports and position papers, and holds regular meetings with key stakeholders, particularly through UEPG. These include structured dialogues with Members of the European Parliament and officials from the European Commission. Notably, as part of the UEPG Sustainable Development Awards, to be held in Brussels in late November 2025, the FDA has already scheduled a series of high-level meetings with MEPs and European Commission representatives. These will also involve Spanish business leaders travelling to Brussels for the awards, thereby strengthening the visibility and influence of the aggregates sector at European level. A milestone on the calendar is the upcoming VII National Congress on Aggregates, organised by the FDA and taking place in October 2025 in Córdoba. This is not only the main Spanish event for the industry but also an international forum of growing importance. This year, the Congress will host the Global Aggregates Information Network (GAIN) meeting, bringing together aggregates associations from all continents. From 21 to 25 October, Córdoba will become the world capital of aggregates, and the FDA will serve as host to the global industry. FDA’s communications strategy in all its lobbying efforts is guided by the defence of the legitimate interests of the sector. Its goal is to position aggregates as essential to sustainable development and to ensure that legislation and policies support a viable, secure, and competitive future for the industry. Among FDA’s strategic priorities, which are reflected in its public messages and institutional communications, are: Environmental sustainability and circular economy Health and safety of workers Gender equality and talent attraction Full compliance with legislation These principles are not just campaign slogans—they define FDA’s identity and are embedded in every initiative, meeting, publication, and event. Through its participation in EU-level and national platforms, and its coordination with UEPG and other partners, the Federation remains a key voice in defending the role of aggregates in delivering Europe’s Green Deal and strategic autonomy goals.
